NG20 Generator Protection Relay

The digital NG20 protection relay includes several functions required for the protection of synchronous generators or non-self-starting synchronous motors.

Features of the NG20 Generator Protection Relay

The Thytronic NG20 protection relay for generators offers several fundamental functions to ensure the safety of generators. Among its standard protection and control functions are the monitoring of phase overcurrent, overfrequency, and residual overvoltage, ensuring the stability of key parameters. Voltagecontrolled / restraint supervision , along with residual current monitoring, guarantees comprehensive protection.

The detection of minimum and maximum voltages, frequencies, and currents, along with the control of directional active underpower and loss offield, ensures optimal generator operation. Optionally, the relay offers advanced hardware and software configurations, such as thermal measurement of machine temperature via Pt100 thermometric probes. Communication is simplified through a type B USB port, allowing easy configuration via the ThyVisor software, ensuring effective monitoring and control of the system.

XMR-P

XMR-P is part of the XMORE platform, a complete range of IEDs for medium voltage applications that includes feeders, motors, generators, transformers, and capacitor banks. Thanks to its hardware and software modularity, XMR-P is flexible and scalable in terms of applications and performance.

Features of the XMR-P Protection Relay

The XMR-P multifunction relay is used in power grids with any neutral state (isolated, earthed with high or low value resistance, earthed with Petersen coil (compensated neutral) and any resistance, directly connected to earth) for the following typical applications:
  • Protection of radial lines, transformers
  • As a CEI 0-16 certified General Protection System ( SPG), with measurement inputs from inductive CT-VT or from ThySensor
  • Disconnection of self-producers from the electrical distribution network (LoM - Loss of Main); in particular, the version with inputs from ThySensor, is CEI 0-16 certified as SPG (general protection system) and integrated SPI (interface protection system).
With optional SW package, it is also possible to extend its application to:
  • Loop lines or long radial lines, generators or transformers in parallel, thanks to directional phase (67) and ground (67N) protections
  • For directional monitoring of active and/or reactive power
  • As multifunctional motor or generator protection.
