Medium Voltage Secondary Protection System SME71-O (RGDAT OUTDOOR)


The SME71-O fault detection system is designed in compliance with the ENEL GSTP001 specification and is installed in outdoor applications to provide local and remote signaling of short circuits and earthfaults that may occur in medium voltage distribution networks. The SME71-O quickly locates theline section affected by faults, thereby reducing power outages.

The SME71-O can operate with:
  • Insulatedneutral
  • Grounded neutral through an inductor with a parallel resistor
  • Grounded neutral through a resistor
  • Directly grounded neutral
The SME71-O device detects faults between phases  and earthfaults in both isolated and compensated neutral networks without needing to change settings between different configurations and independently of the power feed direction. Accurate fault direction detection occurs even with intermittent faults. The SME71-O device monitors the voltage of the three phases of the medium voltage line and signals whether it is ON or OFF. A current converter with a 4...20 mA output is also available to send the phase current measurement to the remote control terminal.
